The Area: Location Type: Near the Sea, Quiet Town, Good Nightlife, Watersports, and Fishing nearby. Turunc is a small fishing village situated on the Mediterranean coast of southwest Turkey, set at the foot of the pine-clad mountains, in a secluded bay. It is more peaceful than some of the bigger resorts in this part of Turkey, and is ideal for those of you who want a place to wind down and relax. The beach of sand & shingle has won The Blue Flag Award for the past three years, and has a beautiful harbour for fishing. There are a few watersports opportunities for those who feel the need to be energetic! Dining: You can enjoy a romantic evening meal listening to the waves lapping on the beach, even if you have brought your mother-in-law and three children! They are renowned for their seafood & Turkish cuisine, and run the length of the golden sands, and all have mouth-watering menus and extensive wine lists, trust me Ive tried all of them! The waiters will serve you food & drink, night or day, whilst you lounge around, nothing is too much trouble. All of the restaurants are within walking distance from the apartment and are too numerous to mention, but as a guide I have included a few of my favourites. Bonjuk - 3 minutes walk from the apartment. Set back from the main town, this small traditional Turkish restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, the food is excellent, the marinated leg of lamb, served with Bonjuk salad, is one of the many specialities and the recipe is a family secret. It is excellent value for money. Kavala - 5 minutes walk. Looking directly out to sea, as are many others. Kavala provides a beautiful setting whether dining during the day or evening. The menu is extensive, and Ibbos flambé pancakes put inches on your waist just looking at them, but must be tried. Es - Set high up in the mountain, overlooking the bay, is the Es restaurant. This place has an air of sophistication. A little more expensive than some, but the views are stunning, and make a perfect setting for that special occasion. Local Activities: Shopping: Walking: Fishing: Getting Around: Alternatively, take a water taxi, they run every hour and are the nicest way to travel. A return ticket can be bought for as little as £4 and take approx. 45 minutes each way. You are able to get off at either Icmeler or Marmaris, and during the height of the season the will run until 10pm. This is the perfect way to see the coastline. Sports & Activities: They include jet skis, water-skiing, snorkeling, deep sea diving, and the usual banana boats and paddle boats. Why not have a relaxing Turkish bath after a day in the sun. Or visit Turtle Beach, have a mud bath, or go on a day boat to the many bays. Lunch is usually included and you can dive off the boats and swim in the crystal clear water. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
